If this sounds like the perfect fit for you, choose Ardent and make a difference with us. </p> <hr> <p><strong>Ardent</strong> is seeking a <strong>Geospatial Database Administrator</strong> to join our team.  </p> <p>This is a <strong>remote position</strong>.</p> <p><strong><u>Position Description:</u></strong></p> <p data-start="151" data-end="528"><strong>Ardent</strong> is seeking a Geospatial Database Administrator to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of geospatial databases in support of DHS Geospatial Management Office (GMO) programs. This role is responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, security, and availability of geospatial data systems across enterprise environments.</p> <p data-start="530" data-end="870">The Geospatial Database Administrator will work closely with application developers, geospatial analysts, and system architects to manage geodatabases, support data integration, and optimize database performance. This position plays a critical role in maintaining reliable and scalable data infrastructure to support DHS mission operations.</p> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Responsibilities and Duties:</span></strong></p> <ul> <li data-section-id="s4iu7w" data-start="912" data-end="1005">Design, implement, operate, and maintain geospatial databases and data storage solutions.</li> <li data-section-id="6ziy9g" data-start="1006" data-end="1106">Monitor database performance, capacity, and availability to ensure optimal system functionality.</li> <li data-section-id="19zbnd1" data-start="1107" data-end="1208">Configure and manage geodatabases, including schema design, data models, and metadata structures.</li> <li data-section-id="10qvc01" data-start="1209" data-end="1295">Support data integration, ingestion, and transformation across geospatial systems.</li> <li data-section-id="12r2vuh" data-start="1296" data-end="1375">Implement database security, access controls, and data protection measures.</li> <li data-section-id="1jopj74" data-start="1376" data-end="1482">Collaborate with system, software, and security teams to configure hardware and software environments.</li> <li data-section-id="15bk7y0" data-start="1483" data-end="1586">Develop and maintain scripts and automation for database maintenance, monitoring, and optimization.</li> <li data-section-id="1rut0mj" data-start="1587" data-end="1661">Support backup, recovery, redundancy, and disaster recovery processes.</li> <li data-section-id="jd8m8m" data-start="1662" data-end="1758">Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, performance bottlenecks, and data inconsistencies.</li> <li data-section-id="rmykpf" data-start="1759" data-end="1843">Maintain documentation for database architecture, configurations, and processes.</li> <li data-section-id="12m2zj4" data-start="1844" data-end="1925">Ensure compliance with DHS standards, data policies, and system requirements.</li> </ul> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Requirements: </strong></span></p> <ul> <li data-section-id="i9nbrq" data-start="1953" data-end="2108">Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related field, or equivalent work experience.</li> <li data-section-id="1xyxh86" data-start="2109" data-end="2192">7+ years of experience managing and maintaining geospatial or database systems.</li> <li data-section-id="amch3l" data-start="2193" data-end="2259">Experience designing, implementing, and managing geodatabases.</li> <li data-section-id="15b5s7h" data-start="2260" data-end="2337">Experience with database management systems (DBMS) and data architecture.</li> <li data-section-id="1j1ctwx" data-start="2338" data-end="2426">Experience monitoring database performance and implementing optimization strategies.</li> <li data-section-id="o5zo6n" data-start="2427" data-end="2499">Experience with data integration, ETL processes, and data workflows.</li> <li data-section-id="jao5dv" data-start="2500" data-end="2584">Strong understanding of database security, access controls, and data protection.</li> <li data-section-id="1u3wru5" data-start="2585" data-end="2674">Experience with scripting or automation for database maintenance (e.g., Python, SQL).</li> <li data-section-id="otw690" data-start="2675" data-end="2729">Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.</li> <li data-section-id="1ytu5oc" data-start="2730" data-end="2806">Ability to work collaboratively across technical teams and stakeholders.</li> </ul> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Preferred Qualifications: </strong></span></p> <ul> <li data-section-id="1j3c3cu" data-start="2846" data-end="2913">Experience supporting DHS or other federal government programs.</li> <li data-section-id="1tk5mmm" data-start="2914" data-end="2993">Familiarity with Esri geospatial platforms and enterprise GIS environments.</li> <li data-section-id="9wjnjz" data-start="2994" data-end="3072">Experience working with cloud-based data storage solutions (e.g., AWS S3).</li> <li data-section-id="h8ug09" data-start="3073" data-end="3148">Experience with data federation, REST services, and system integration.</li> <li data-section-id="1x581sh" data-start="3149" data-end="3230">Familiarity with metadata standards and geospatial data lifecycle management.</li> </ul> <p>Due to the nature of the work we support, all candidates in consideration for this role must be willing to undergo the government issued background investigation process.
