We are Montanans serving Montanans. As a Systems Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that MSF’s technology systems operate with integrity, efficiency, and alignment to business needs. This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical analysis, problem-solving, and collaborative partnership.</p><p>In this role, you’ll be a strategic partner to business units to support operational needs and technical solutions, and a guardian of system quality throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC). Your work ensures that MSF’s systems remain reliable, scalable, and capable of supporting our mission to serve Montana safely and effectively.</p><p>This role blends analytical depth, project support, and hands-on system testing, offering opportunities to grow your technical expertise while contributing to meaningful organizational outcomes.</p><p><br></p><p>Required Skills</p><p><strong>What you will do:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Project Management Support, Technical Analysis & Requirements Gathering: </strong>Conducts comprehensive research and technical analysis to translate customer needs into detailed business requirements and functional specifications. Meets and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to establish project scope, system goals, and prioritized requirements. Liaises with developers and other IT staff to research potential new solutions and identify process efficiencies. Develops proposals outlining feasibility and costs, ensuring all system changes meet specified requirements while maintaining overall system integrity.</li><li><strong>Quality Assurance & Systems Testing:</strong> Defines and coordinates the execution of comprehensive testing procedures, including the development of manual and automated test scripts and detailed test cases. Applies rigorous quality control reviews during testing phases to ensure products perform within acceptable user expectations and maintain data/metadata integrity. Coordinates User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and works closely with business units to validate that finished products solve the intended business problems. Documents and standardizes IT quality assurance processes to improve long-term system reliability.\</li><li><strong>Project Support & Lifecycle Management:</strong> Assists and supports project leadership by adhering to Project Methodology standards across all phases of the SDLC. Compiles detailed project documentation, including data modeling, analysis, and mapping for all MSF applications and data management systems. Structures and communicates project plans and progress to stakeholders, seeking feedback for continuous system improvements. Ensures project milestones and deliverables are met as planned by tracking performance and providing data-driven reporting.</li><li><strong>Systems Maintenance & Change Management:</strong> Monitors, maintains, and upgrades technology systems, proactively resolving user issues and implementing necessary modifications. Applies system solutions to business problems by developing business queries and standard reports using MSF report writing tools and methodologies. Provides ongoing change management functions for all application and infrastructure updates to minimize operational disruption. Provides consulting assistance to system users, including the creation of process documentation and delivery of training as needed. Pay grade 3A-3B depending on qualifications and experience. Starting annual salary begins at $72,600-$100,800 per year.
